Conor McGregor-Dustin Poirier trilogy fight is fast approaching and top-ranked middleweight Marvin Vettori has given his prediction for the fight
Just a week is left before Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier take center stage in the main event of UFC 264. The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the 10th of July.
It was McGregor who earned an easy victory when the pair fought for the first time. The Irishman knocked out Poirier in the very first round, when they met at UFC 178 in September 2014.
Almost 7 years later, at UFC 257, Poirier finished McGregor in the second round, earning revenge, and also handing the Irishman his first-ever knockout loss.
With the fight, only a week away predictions from all around the globe have been coming thick and fast. More recently, number 4 ranked middleweight Marvin Vettori shared his prediction for the fight.
In an interview with MMA Uncensored, he was asked if he would attend McGregor vs Poirier trilogy, while also being asked for his prediction of the fight.
Vettori replied:
“No, I won’t be at the event… I think Poirier (will) still do it again. I think so.”
Conor McGregor believes Dustin Poirier would be light work
McGregor recently took to Twitter to claim that he would dispatch Poirier easily. Responding to Nick Peet of unibet.com who had tweeted about his excitement ahead of the fight.
McGregor replied:
“Let’s go big lad, light work. Murder shots. #BookIt“
McGregor will be looking forward to getting the win and ascend back into lightweight relevance. A loss here would shatter him mentally to the point of even considering retirement.
