Marvin Vettori fights Jack Hermansson in his next UFC fight but opened up on not getting to face Chris Weidman

The Italian Dream, Marvin Vettori, finally gets a shot at one of the top Middleweights in the UFC in his next fight.

Vettori is on a three-fight win streak and is one of the few people to have taken Israel Adesanya to a split decision.

While Vettori lost out on that, he wanted to take on Chris Weidman. The American is a former UFC Middleweight champion but he brushed aside the Italian Dream’s call out.

Vettori was speaking to the Schmo before his fight against Jack Hermansson on Saturday. Hermansson is ranked #4 in the division and seems confident of taking on the Italian.

The pair have fought on the same card prior to their UFC days but Vettori spoke about how upset he was at Weidman not accepting the fight:

“I called out Chris Weidman in such a beautiful way with citing Eminem. On a call-out like that, you should just accept, there is no way out.

“He didn’t accept it but it all worked out for the better. I am fighting number 4 and we will see. Then it should be him to call me out.

“If he doesn’t then he really doesn’t want to know anything about me. But I was really upset, because with such a call-out, you should really just accept.”

The GOAT of MMA

Helen Yee also got a crack at Vettori after the weigh-ins. The Italian spoke about his own clothing line coming up, ‘Italian Dream apparel’ and also who his GOAT in MMA was.

There have been many names brought up in recent months but Vettori went with a legend. Fedor Emelianenko is considered as one of the greatest ever, even though he has never stepped foot into the UFC:

“I think the GOAT will always remain Fedor for me. Maybe that is a little biased because the first fighter that I really watched coming up was Fedor.

“There are many in the talk for the GOAT, but Fedor remains the best for me.”

Vettori is also dreaming of a title shot and a win over Hermansson could see him achieve that.

Adesanya is undefeated in his MMA career and it will be interesting to see how the fight goes on Saturday.
