Mateusz Gamrot picked up an impressive win via a kimura lock against the veteran Jeremy Stephens
It seemed to be a night of submissions at UFC Vegas 31 as Mateusz Gamrot put up quite a show against Jeremy Stephens.
Many expected this fight to end rather than go the distance as the pair had more than 30 finishes between them.
This was Stephens trying to get a streak going in the Lightweight division while Gamrot was only in his third UFC fight.
The Pole, Gamrot, came into this fight with just one loss to his name, that was his debut in the UFC.
However, the 30-year-old improved to 19-1-1 after an impressive kimura lock. The fight lasted just over a minute as he first took Stephens down, then reversed a kimura before getting his rival to tap out to the same lock.
Suffice to say, Gamrot was ecstatic with the win over the veteran and he also got some praise from his UFC co-stars.
Gilbert Burns impressed by Mateusz Gamrot
Former Welterweight contender, Gilbert Burns, was quick to bring up how good Gamrot actually is.
Burns had predicted Gamrot to pick up the win over Stephens, and it certainly seemed like the Brazilian enjoyed the quick finish.
Gamrot now has 19 wins in his career and he spoke about how great his wrestling actually is after the clash.
It will be interesting to see who he could go up against but there is no doubt Gamrot is a contender for the future, especially if he continues performing at this level.
