Matt Riddle was on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show and spoke about his departure from the UFC
Matt Riddle was destined for great things on UFC before he was unceremoniously fired from the company for marijuana use.
Riddle was one a four-fight win streak but two of those results were taken away from him. However, the Original Bro has picked himself up really well and is starring in WWE.
Riddle was asked several questions leading up to his departure but the Bro highlighted why an exit from the UFC was great for him:
“It was the best thing that could have happened to me. Fighting was extremely hard on my body, hard on my mind, cutting that much weight, raising three kids.
“It was really tough and at the end of the day, I didn’t like hurting people.”
Riddle added that he had hurt a few people in the Octagon and he didn’t really enjoy that. However, he was now having a great time on WWE:
“I really get to enjoy myself. I get to wrestle on multiple platforms via the network. It blows my mind because this is what I wanted my whole life and I probably thought I would never get there.
“To come full circle and be here, its awesome.”
Riddle also lashed out at UFC president Dana White for all the hurtful things said to him while he was fired.
White lashed out at Riddle and claimed he wouldn’t make decent money anywhere after his UFC stint.
He also called him several derogatory words but Riddle was happy at having left the company. The SmackDown star claimed he was making four-five times than what he could have ever made in the UFC and he has a great relationship with Triple H too.
Riddle also believed that he could have been a top 5 contender in his weight class, had he remained in the UFC, and didn’t rule out winning the title.
The 34-year-old claimed that WWE knows how to take care of its athletes and he was pleased to do something that he always wanted to do.
The UFC’s loss is WWE’s gain and it will be interesting to see how Riddle does in the coming months on SmackDown.
