Matt Wiman was in action at the latest UFC event but has been cut from the promotion

The 2020 UFC roster cuts continued with several names being released from the promotion.

Matt Wiman was one of several stars released despite him fighting over the weekend. Wiman didn’t have a great time in the Octagon as he took on the undefeated Jordan Leavitt.

The fight lasted just about 22 seconds as Leavitt slammed his rival onto the mat. Wiman was in a lot of pain and seemed to have suffered a concussion too. He needed a lot of medical attention as the fight was stopped and Leavitt also consoled his wife after taking out his rival.

Thankfully, Wiman was able to walk out of the Octagon after the fight but this news wouldn’t have been great for him.

Combate (h/t BJ Penn) reported that Wiman was being cut from the promotion. However, he wasn’t the only one who got the boot.

No big names cut for now

Wiman leaves the UFC with a record of 16 wins and 10 losses. However, he had lost his last three fights.

The report adds that Cole Smith, Eduardo Garagorri, Saparbek Safarov and Gadzhimurad Antigulov were also released by the UFC.

None of these are big names when compared to the likes of Yoel Romero or Anderson Silva. Both stars were shockingly released by the UFC in recent weeks.

Dana White had spoken about wanting Silva to retire even before the Brazilian lost his last fight. However, the Romero release caught everyone by surprise. This won’t be the end of the cuts though as White has confirmed that close to 60 fights would be cut.

Rachael Ostovich posted a positive message despite her UFC release (Instagram)

Another star who got released recently was Rachael Ostovich. She also lost her last fight and was released with a losing record of four wins and six losses.
