Maycee Barber is back in UFC action as she takes on Alexa Grasso at UFC 258

Maycee ‘The Future’ Barber returns to UFC action after more than a year out. The 22-year-old was undefeated in her career until she suffered a serious knee injury in her last fight.

Roxanne Modafferi got the win at UFC 246 but she couldn’t finish off Barber. Now, after a year of recuperation, Barber is back and she is ready to charge for the UFC Flyweight title.

Barber has dreams of usurping Jon Jones as the youngest UFC Champion and she has just over a year to achieve that.

She is 22 and faces Alexa Grasso at UFC 258. While she was talking the talk with the Schmo, there was another fight she was asked about.

Barber has trained with MMA star Ben Askren and Funky will also make a return to in-ring fighting after a while out.

Funky was also undefeated before Jorge Masvidal’s knee left an ever lasting tale, but he takes on Jake Paul in a boxing match.

That got a lot of people talking and barbs have been traded between Paul and Askren. Barber was then asked about this clash and she was happy seeing Askren make some money:

“Yeah he does have a huge boxing match and I am ready to see him go out there and make a lot of money.”

The Schmo then asked if she had seen Askren hit some pads and she responded in the affirmative:

“I have seen him hit pads a couple of times. For the most part, I don’t know, I am just excited for him to go out there and fight. I know that he is going to make some good money and it will be entertaining for everybody to watch.”

The easiest weight cut for Maycee Barber

The 8-1 star was also asked about her weight cut and she said this was the easiest one ever. She understood that Grasso isn’t an easy opponent to face but she was ready to hand her rival another loss.

Valentina Shevchenko is the champion and is expected to fight Joanne Calderwood. However, Barber has called out Calderwood and a win for her on Saturday could put a spanner in the works, according to Chael Sonnen.

Askren vs Paul might be a big fight but Barber has some special plans after her return, and it will be interesting to see what happens after UFC 258.
