Chris Weidman and Jimmy Crute suffered leg injuries at UFC 261 and an update was provided for them
The main card of UFC 261 saw some incredible knockouts. Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas produced the fireworks in their title fights as the crowd was on their feet.
However, there were a couple of rather horrific injuries on the main card too. Jimmy Crute’s leg collapsed after a great kick by Anthony Smith.
The Australian tried to continue fighting after the first round but the doctor did not allow him to continue.
Crute couldn’t stand and the fight was called off, despite the Aussie trying to get ready for the second round.
Smith was quick to console his rival and Megan Olivi provided an update on Crute’s injury after UFC 261.
The presenter confirmed that Crute’s knee had stabilized and that he was going to get some imaging done later.
However, the more gruesome injury on the night was that of Chris Weidman’s. The former UFC Middleweight champion took on Uriah Hall and picked up a rather unfortunate injury.
Incredibly, this was the same injury that Anderson Silva picked up against Weidman eight years back. Weidman went in for a kick and his leg bent in an awful way. He then landed on that same leg and collapsed on the floor screaming in agony.
The former champion was provided a lot of medical assistance and was stretchered out. He still acknowledged the support from the fans who cheered him as he left the arena.
While the UFC world wished Weidman the best, Olivi confirmed that Weidman was admitted to a hospital and that he would have surgery tomorrow.
The leg injury for Weidman was certainly brutal and even his rival, Hall, had some great words for the All-American.
Hopefully, both stars return to action soon and can get back into the Octagon and do what they like doing best.
