Conor McGregor and Michael Bisping aren’t the best of friends
Conor McGregor suffered a disappointing loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman suffered a broken ankle that led to the fight being awarded to Poirier (due to a doctor stoppage).
Following his loss, McGregor underwent surgery on his left ankle. Ever since then he has been engaging himself in many a Twitter war – especially with notable MMA stars like Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Nate Diaz and Michael Bisping.
In a recent episode of The Fighter vs The Writer Podcast, Bisping explained why McGregor has been venting it out on social media, of late.
Bisping was quoted as saying:
“For (Conor), right now, that’s the best way he can deal with losing these fights. I’m not making excuses for him, far from it, because I was at the receiving end of some of his bullsh*t recently as well.” [via BJPenn.com]
It is worth noting that, McGregor had never lost two fights in a row until the year 2021. Following a loss to Poirier, at UFC 257 in January, his loss once again at UFC 264 handed him his first-ever back-to-back losses.
He is also serving a medical suspension for 6 months. He will be available only in the second week of January.
Michael Bisping describes his relationship with Conor McGregor
‘The Count’ then went on to describe the relationship between himself and McGregor.
The UFC Hall of Famer divulged that he used to be somewhat friendly with him, before going to share some words of advice for the Irishman.
Bisping said:
“But I think for him to still believe — and I don’t have a relationship with him, we used to be somewhat friendly, we don’t talk anymore, so I’m not speaking from experience or anything like that, just speaking in general as a fighter — he has to believe in his mind that fight was competitive.” [via BJPenn.com]
Bisping is currently working as a colour commentator for the UFC, and is usually in the commentary box during most of the UFC Fight Night events.
