Parler has been banned from several markets for their role in the Capitol Hill riots but Michael Chandler wants fans to follow him there
UFC star Michael Chandler was caught in the eye of a storm after he asked fans to follow him on Parler.
Parler is an American social networking and micro blogging site. This is called as an alternative to Twitter but it features a significant Donald Trump supporter user base and also conspiracy theorists and right-wing extremists.
Parler is said to provide free speech, however, reports have suggested that the app was used to coordinate the recent Capitol Hill riots that left several injured and also led to the deaths of a few.
Apple, Amazon and Google Play have all banned or removed the app from their store after the riots.
However, Chandler seems keen on using the platform and tweeted the same on his Twitter account:
Fans not happy with Chandler
In all fairness, Chandler also tweeted that he was opening an account on another networking site, Telegram.
However, the tweet about Parler caught a lot of attention on social media. The app being banned by most places after its role in the riots was a big enough problem and many didn’t like the fact that Chandler was on that platform.
Chandler is yet to make his UFC debut but is set to fight Dan Hooker at UFC 257. The UFC has had some big names support US president Donald Trump, and some of his tweets led to the riots taking place.
Trump supporters were the ones who invaded Capitol Hill and several platforms such as Twitter and Facebook eventually banned the outgoing president.
Jorge Masvidal, Ali Abdelaziz and Colby Covington were some big names that promoted Trump running for a second term.
Many fans weren’t all that pleased with Chandler, and hit out at the new UFC star:
