UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler picks Charles Olivera to defend his title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274
Former interim champion Justin Gaethje has been given a second chance to get his hands on the coveted UFC gold against Charles Oliveira at UFC 274. However, his last opponent in a recent interview has picked the Brazilian to defend his throne.
He quotes, “I would not have given Charles Oliveira a chance to beat Justin Gaethje up until about the last 12 months.”
This pick in particular is quite interesting as Michael Chandler seems to be the perfect person to make the call, having clashed against both the fighters in thrilling fights.
It looks like the UFC is working to set up a fight between lightweights, Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson.
In a recent Fan Q&A session hosted by ESPN’s Laura Sanko, UFC President Dana White broke the news of the same.
While the bossman sounded frustrated about the reporters picking up half-baked news, he did sound like the fight was close to being made official.
Chandler has gained massive respect and following from the fans, coming off an absolute war against Justin Gaethje at UFC 268. This fight can go a long way in motivating Tony, who was outwrestled in his last two fights, losing on the scorecard.
