Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier fight has another prediction from fellow UFC fighter
UFC lightweight fighter Michael Chandler spoke to Helen Yee on her YouTube channel about Conor McGregor taking on Dustin Poirier this weekend at UFC 257.
The Notorious One and The Diamond have both held the belt before. In fact, the two also faced each other before in 2014, at UFC 178. However, the circumstances are different now.
Both fighters, especially Poirier, have come a long way now. Moreover, the stakes of the match are different. The winner of this main event fight is widely believed to be the first in line for a shot at the UFC lightweight title.
It is currently held by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired in October 2020. However, Dana White recently revealed that the Russian could make a comeback to UFC depending on the results of UFC 257.
With so much riding on this PPV, it is natural that fans and fellow UFC fighters are hyped about the bout.
Michael Chandler says that Conor McGregor has the ability to “starch” anybody in the first few rounds.
However, he stated that the fight will lean in Poirier’s favour if it makes it beyond round 2, as the Diamond is more resilient and can put on the “pressure” constantly.
“We’re gonna see a better fight. The first couple of rounds will always favour Conor, but the last couple, more than half of the fight, will lean in Dustin’s favour.”
He states that we could see both types of a fight; an early knockout, or one that goes the distance. And if the latter was to happen, then Dustin Poirier would be the favourite to win.
“We could see a quick knockout, or we could see a 25-minute war. And I think that 25-minute war favours Dustin Poirier.”
