Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira picked up impressive wins at UFC 274
Charles Oliveira might not be the UFC Lightweight Champion due to him missing weight ahead of UFC 274 but you can’t argue with him keeping the belt.
The Brazilian weighed 0.5lbs over the limit ahead of his title clash against Justin Gaethje. However, Oliveira put on a show for the ages as he mauled his rival and won via submission in the first round.
Michael Chandler, for his part, produced what could have been the knockout of the year against Tony Ferguson.
The former Bellator star was quick to cut a promo for a title fight and called out Oliveira again on social media.
Chandler was defeated by Oliveira at UFC 262. However, the American is keen for a rematch in the summer or fall. He also claimed he would finish Oliveira within two rounds.
A Chandler vs Oliveira rematch would be something special. The pair’s first meeting just lasted 19 seconds into the second round, and the rematch could end even quicker.
Oliveira, on his part, has been calling himself the champion, even before his fight against Gaethje took place.
The Brazilian might not have the title, but his latest performance more than cemented his place as the best Lightweight in the UFC.
The one name that could fight Oliveira next is Islam Makhachev. He is the heir to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s throne, and could be the closest thing to seeing Khabib fight in the UFC again.
Makhachev vs Oliveira could also be an interesting clash, and it is up to the UFC to set it up.
