Diego Sanchez has been pulled out of his fight against Donald Cerrone following his UFC release
One of the most, if not, the most long-standing fighter in UFC history, Diego Sanchez has been released by the promotion. He was scheduled to take on another veteran Donald Cerrone on the 8th of May, next weekend.
Sanchez had been a part of the UFC since 2005. He had the longest uninterrupted tenure on the active roster in the UFC.
No one has ever been involved in more Fight of the Year bouts than Sanchez. And, he is also one of the few fighters to have competed in four different weight classes.
Sanchez has had a rough relationship with the UFC of late- he and his team were left stranded by the UFC representatives at the Vegas airport after returning from Abu Dhabi (UFC 253). The ‘Nightmare’ openly blasted the UFC for the way they were looked after.
There are many other instances of Sanchez personally having a tough time in the UFC. Taking into account all these and also the fact that he is nearing 40, it is no surprise that he has been released from the UFC.
The only sad part is that he wouldn’t get to have a farewell fight, after being pulled out from the fight against Cerrone.
Elsewhere, number 7 ranked UFC welterweight Michael Chiesa responded to Sanchez’s release from the UFC, with a rather funny Tweet.
Posting a GIF of Jake Paul in the boxing ring, Chiesa implied that it was time for ‘The Nightmare’ to face the ‘Problem Child’.
Chiesa tweeted:
“I’m not going to say his name but… you know what I’m implying.”
Belal Muhammad joins the party as well
Belal ‘Remember the name’ Muhammad seemed to hint the same thing fellow welterweight Michael Chiesa hinted.
Posting a GIF on Twitter, of a young Denzel Washington biting his lip, Muhammad just wrote the words Jake Paul.
Jake Paul is carving out a name for himself as a professional boxer and has been on a callout spree, agitating every UFC fighter there is.
But most of the fighters being pitted against Paul are usually washed and retired ones, and hence Chiesa and Muhammad have hinted at a possible fight between the YouTube star and Diego Sanchez.
