Michelle Waterson will be going by Michelle Waterson-Gomez starting with UFC Long Island, after it was confirmed following Jon Anik’s introduction at official weigh-ins
Michelle Waterson (now Michelle Waterson-Gomez) will be making her return to the Octagon after 14 months. ‘The Karate Hottie’ will be taking on Amanda Lemos at UFC Long Island this weekend. Coming off a loss against Marina Rodriguez in May 2021, Waterson will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways.
With the event set to commence in a couple of days, Waterson will henceforth be going by the name Michelle Waterson-Gomez. It was confirmed following Jon Anik’s introduction at official UFC Long Island weigh-ins.

Waterson is married to Joshua Gomez, and hence has added his surname to her’s. Gomez is a former U.S. Armed Forces amateur boxing champion. Waterson (now Waterson-Gomez) married Joshua in 2011.
“Joanne just gave up her last name” – Fans react to Michelle Waterson including her husband’s surname
As expected Twitter was a wild place. While one suggested that she should just go by the name ‘The Karate Hottie,’ another brought up Joanne Wood (formerly Joanne Calderwood) dropping her last name. There were a few positive reactions as well.
