Conor McGregor was the UFC’s 1st reigning two-division champion in 2016
McGregor was one of the most feared fighters during the mid-2010s. In fact, he still is, but he is nowhere close to the level he was during his heydays.
He is now scheduled to fight, Dustin Poirier in a trilogy bout at UFC 264, after being knocked out for the first time in his MMA career against the Diamond at UFC 257, earlier this year.
Once he became the two-division champion in 2016, he started losing his animal mentality. Since then he has featured in 3 fights in the UFC. Out of the 3, he has won just one and lost 2.
Doubts about his performance inside the Octagon have increased to a great extent over the past few months.
In the wake of this, UFC Welterweight Mike Perry shared his honest opinion on what he thought about McGregor.
‘Platinum’ told Helen Yee:
“Conor’s getting tired again. I’m sure he is training and all this, but I don’t know what he is going to focus on, the calf kicks aren’t that big of a deal.
Mike Perry dismisses the idea of Conor McGregor becoming a champion again
Perry then gave his prediction for the trilogy fight between McGregor and Poirier. He claimed that Poirier would get the win, and he also dismissed the idea of McGregor becoming the champion again.
Perry told Helen Yee:
“We are gonna rock with USA on that one, South Florida, that’s Dustin Poirier. I think he gets it done in the trilogy. I think the imaginative idea of Conor McGregor coming back, beating Dustin, then becoming champion again, over Oliveira – I don’t think he lands that shot on Oliveira.
