Tunisian star Mounir Lazzez created history as he got into the Octagon against Abdul Razak Alhassan at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Ige
Mounir Lazzez was on the main card’s first clash and both stars tried to destroy each other with a ton of punches and kicks.
It was Lazzez who came out on top in his debut UFC fight, and he became the first Tunisian to feature in the promotion ever.
That is something to be proud of and Lazzez wasted no time after his clash. He called out Mike Perry as he wanted to put his head in the right place.
While that fight may or may not happen, he did have a lot of respect for his opponent as the pair hugged it out after the clash.
The win was certainly something great for the Tunisian as he went to 10-1 in his MMA career, but there is a great story behind him signing for the UFC too.
Dana White came out to congratulate Lazzez after he took part in the post-fight interviews. While meeting with the top boss is something special, especially after the first fight, there is an incredible story as to why White signed the Tunisian fighter.
Lazzez was speaking before his clash on media day and claimed that a friend of his in Dubai shared some of his highlights with White while he saw the UFC president in a Las Vegas restaurant.
White then followed the UFC fighter on social media before contact was made. Lazzez was then contacted by UFC matchmaker Sean Selby and well, it all it kicked off for the Tunisian.
Lazzez was just happy to be part of the UFC and getting a debut win was certainly great. It will be interesting to see how he does in the coming months, but he already has made a name for himself in the division.
