Khamzat Chimaev needs to beat one top star to face Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz has been brought up as the next opponent for the impressive Khamzat Chimaev.

Dana White recently spoke about bringing Chimaev up with Diaz’s team. However, the UFC veteran seemed dismissive of fighting the rising star.

Chimaev is undefeated in his MMA career and recently picked up another dominant win at UFC 267.

The Swede then called out several stars, including Diaz, and seems ready for another big scalp.

Diaz might not be in the form that he once held but he still is a big name. The Stockton star taking on anyone is big news in the UFC and now it seems he is open to fighting Chimaev.

However, the Swede has to first get over Kamaru Usman. Diaz claimed that he might fight Chimaev if the Swede could defeat the undisputed UFC Welterweight champion.

Can Khamzat Chimaev defeat Kamaru Usman?

Chimaev is the hottest property in the UFC but a title shot seems to be out of the question, for now.

The Swede has been impressive and has been invincible in his UFC tenure. However, the same could be said about Usman.

The Nigerian Nightmare has defeated all comers and has dominated the opposition. He has defeated Jorge Masvidal twice, and did the same to Colby Covington too.

He is yet to lose a fight in his UFC career and holds an impressive 20-1 MMA record. It also begs the question why Chimaev would fight Diaz if he became the UFC Welterweight champion.

Nevertheless, this could have been a bit of a dig at Chimaev from Diaz. The American fighting is big news for the UFC, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
