Nate Diaz makes more money than Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman combined
Chael Sonnen shared some explosive details regarding how much Nate Diaz makes in the UFC when compared to the top stars.
Diaz is one of the biggest names in the UFC, even though he hasn’t picked up a title in his long stint with the promotion.
However, the 35-year-old has had several big matches over the years, including against Conor McGregor.
Diaz fought Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title in his last appearance, but he still seems to be making a ton of money.
Chael Sonnen was speaking on his MMA show and confirmed that Diaz made more money than two top UFC stars:
“Nate Diaz is having a little fun with the guys. He came out and said ‘I make more than Usman and Burns.’
“By Nate’s math, he meant combined. Just so you guys understand, he is telling the truth. That is the truth.”
Sonnen went on to say that top stars who can draw people in make the big bucks, but this could also be seen as a problem currently with the UFC.
Many of the top stars have publicly called out the UFC regarding their pay recently. Henry Cejudo walked away from the company despite being the Bantamweight champion.
Jon Jones, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, is also upset over not fighting Francis Ngannou in the Heavyweight division.
He wanted big money too but the UFC didn’t grant that and Jones suggested that he was leaving the company as well. Jorge Masvidal has been vocal about not getting the right pay while Conor McGregor also said that he was retired.
Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns are two of the top stars in the Welterweight division. Usman is the champion while Burns will face him at UFC 251 for the crown.
Diaz making more money than the pair combined is a bit strange, even if the American is one of the best ever.
The UFC has a lot of work to do regarding their pay structure it seems, and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
