Nate Diaz could box Jake Paul after Ben Askren fight
Jake Paul is one brave guy. Calling out MMA stars is one thing, but to consistently try and poke someone like Nate Diaz is a whole different beast.
But that’s what he has been doing, and it was brought up on ESPN MMA this week, where Diaz was the guest.
The host asked ‘The Stockton Slugger’ if a fight against Jake Paul would be something that he is interested in.
Diaz replied saying that it might interest him in the future, but not at the moment.
“Nah, not at the moment. But at some point for sure.”
More interestingly, he gave his prediction for the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren fight. Diaz mentioned that Paul should be careful fighting a wrestler like ‘Funky’ because of how unorthodox he can be.
Not only that, he reminded the American YouTuber-turned-professional boxer that this was a proper fight, and something that he is probably not used to.
“I don’t know, let’s see what happens. I think one thing has to understand is that he is fighting Ben Askren. That is a different type of boxing match than he is probably going to be used to… Some goody, unorthodox wrestler to spar with because sometimes those are harder fights just because they are unorthodox and you don’t know what to expect…”
Askren and Paul are, of course, scheduled to take on each other on April 17th later this year. The fight is going to be fought under the Triller Fight Club banner.
The two have already begun to trash talk, and it is going to be one mismatched encounter.
Askren is a world-class wrestler, but his boxing ability has for long been suspect. Even during his time at UFC, it was his stand-up game that constantly let him down.
This is one thing that would give Jake Paul some hope, who is yet to fight a serious opponent inside the ring.
