Nate Diaz has taken to Twitter to ask for himself to be released from the UFC
There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding ‘The Stockton Slugger’ Nate Diaz’s future in the UFC.
Despite trading verbal bombs with rival Dustin Poirier and a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor waiting to happen, one can’t be very sure about seeing Diaz once again in the Octagon. And his latest Tweet seems to confirm the same.
Taking to Twitter, Diaz requested UFC President Dana White and Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell for his release from the promotion.
Here is what he had to say:
“I Would like to request to be released from the @ufc @danawhite @hunter I apologize for asking online but u don’t give me a fight asap I got shit to do.”
Diaz hasn’t fought since UFC 263 in June 2021. He took on Leon Edwards and lost the fight via. unanimous decision despite a late final minute surge (in the final round of the fight).
Dustin Poirier believes Nate Diaz is “retired”
In a recent Twitter Q&A session, Dustin Poirier took time to answer a couple of questions about his rival Nate Diaz.
When suggested by a fan to beat up Nate next, Dustin said that he believes the younger Diaz brother is retired.
“He’s retired,” Poirier wrote.
He then added that he had found out about Diaz retiring. His follow up Tweet read:
“Not sure… i wanted to fight nate this summer but just found out he’s hanging them up. We’ll see what’s exciting in the future.”
Poirier and Diaz were scheduled to fight back in late 2019, but the matchup never came to fruition.
