A Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor trilogy fight will still be one of the biggest UFC events of all time
Nate Diaz returned with a bang at the recently concluded UFC 263. Although the ‘Stockton Slugger’ couldn’t beat his opponent Leon Edwards, he put on a performance for the ages, almost turning the fight around in just 60 seconds.
The old and typical Diaz was well and truly back, despite having not featured in almost 2 years. That left everyone with the question – Who’s next for Diaz?
It now looks like a trilogy fight against his nemesis Conor McGregor might also be a possibility.
McGregor addressed the same in an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport a couple of days ago:
“It’s for sure gonna happen. It must happen. We’re one and one, and it must happen. It will happen. I am looking forward to the day.”
More recently, the Schmo caught up with Nate Diaz ‘in a dark alley’ and asked if he would fight McGregor in a trilogy bout. Diaz did seem hopeful about fighting ‘The Irishman’.
He said:
“Yeah time will tell. Let’s see what happens.”
Conor McGregor’s old foe Rafael dos Anjos called out The Irishman on Twitter. Had it not been for RDA, a rivalry between McGregor and Diaz would have never taken shape. RDA had pulled out from a title fight against McGregor which led to Diaz stepping in.
5 years later, RDA seems hell-bent on fighting McGregor, as he took to Twitter to call out McGregor following the UFC 264 weigh-ins (he is the backup fighter for McGregor-Poirier trilogy).
“Conor you’re such a snake, sneaking from behind and playing tough. Soon or later we will finish business. I’m not like the guys you play around with.”
