Nate Diaz says he is no more keen on a rematch with Jorge Masvidal
UFC star Nate Diaz has apparently outgrown fighters such as Jorge Masvidal. He also says that is no longer interested in a rematch with ‘Gamebred’.
The two famously met at UFC 244, where Masvidal took on Diaz for the custom-made ‘BMF’ belt. The fight was as physical as fans expected it to be.
The ringside physician adjudged a cut over Diaz’s eye too serious to continue fighting with, and Masvidal was adjudged the winner via TKO in round 3.
Since then, UFC tried to make a rematch happen. Even just after the fight, Masvidal promised the Madison Square Garden crowd that a rematch would take place.
However, the talks did not materialize. And since then, it seems that Diaz has no interest in it anymore.
Speaking on ESPN MMA this week, he was asked about a potential rematch with Masvidal. To that, he replied that he was interested in it earlier, but no longer fancies it.
“Those guys are all pretty played out to me. I don’t really pay attention to that no more.
“It’s what I wanted initially but these guys went their own ways, it did whatever they wanted to do and I felt that was kind of whack.”
He added that he has moved on from the idea of a rematch, and is now focusing on bigger things for himself.
“I was looking for something bigger and better. Moved on for sure.”
Bigger things, according to him, is a fight at 170 lbs against Dustin Poirier. As unlikely as that is, to happen it has never stopped Diaz from pushing a fight like this in the past.
Diaz is yet to fight since his loss to Masvidal a few months back. His next fight is still not confirmed, but it seems likely that he won’t be facing ‘The Diamond’.
