Nate Diaz was more interested in fighting Kamaru Usman, and not ‘The Nigerian’s old training partner Gilbert Burns
Nate Diaz made an exciting return to the UFC at the recently concluded UFC 263, against Leon Edwards. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ had almost turned the game around in the last minute after being dominated for 24 straight minutes.
Had there been a minute or two, Diaz would have finished Edwards.
Elsewhere, fellow UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns who recently earned a unanimous decision win over Stephen Thompson at the recently concluded UFC 264, called out Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards on Twitter.
His callout of Masvidal read:
“What’s up @GamebredFighter what you doing October or November?”
He then followed it up with a callout of Nate Diaz:
“And where you at @NateDiaz209 talk all that shit. Say something now!”
Diaz hit back at Burns saying that he would fight guys who knocked him out, implying Kamaru Usman:
“I’d rather fight the guy who knocked you guys out.”
Gilbert Burns calls out Nate Diaz for playing it safe
Burns then slammed Diaz with a superfluity of insults. He called out ‘The West Coast Gangster’ for ducking, while branding him a ‘fake gangster.’
‘Durinho’ also pointed out the number of losses Diaz had on his record and lashed out at him for playing it safe.
Burns tweeted:
“That’s what I thought @NateDiaz209 you don’t want no smoke! So don’t say my name anymore bitch ass fake gangster! So many losses you have already! And your teammates that I already beat knows what I would do to you! Keep playing smart and save.”
It is worth noting that, with his win over Thompson, Burns cemented his position as the number 2 ranked welterweight.
