Neil Magny believes Leon Edwards can “school” Khamzat Chimaev in re-booked fight

Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards is set to take place at Fight Night 187 and Neil Magny shared his prediction

Neil Magny is in action this midweek as he takes on Michael Chiesa. While Magny believes he will be able to get the better of Chiesa, the UFC star was also asked about Khamzat Chimaev.

Magny had put his hand up to fight Chimaev when the Swede was looking for a ranked rival. The UFC neglected Magny’s calls and set him up to face Leon Edwards.

That fight has been rescheduled a few times since both stars got Covid-19. However, the pair are now set to meet at UFC Fight Night 187 and headline the show.

Magny was speaking to Helen Yee and was asked who could win the fight. The UFC star backed Edwards to show off his style and get the better of Chimaev:

“The smart man in me, the betting man on me would tell me to bet on Leon Edwards.

“There is different levels to the sport, levels to the game and him being such a seasoned veteran, I feel like he can go out and pretty much school Khamzat.”

Edwards has more UFC experience than Chimaev and that factored in Magny’s prediction for the clash.

However, he wasn’t completely ruling out Chimaev and claimed this would be a real test of his credentials too.

A big fight in the making

Khamzat is coming into this clash undefeated and this is going to be his biggest test since signing for the UFC.

Edwards was a title contender at one point. However, the coronavirus ensured he remained in the UK and was unable to take up big fights.

That was a blessing for Gilbert Burns, who will next face Kamaru Usman for the title. A win for Edwards should put him back in the title scene while the same could happen if Chimaev gets the victory.
