The UFC provided an update on Nick Diaz following his fight against Robbie Lawler at UFC 266
Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler 2 really went down. The two legends fought it out in a rematch, seventeen years in the making.
The fight was for five-rounds (non-title fight) at UFC 266 inside a packed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Although, Diaz was up for Lawler’s challenge, he began fizzling out as the fight progressed. The first round had an insane amount of strikes thrown by both the fighters.
Lawler, meanwhile, never let his aggression go down. Plenty of counter punches were thrown by the former welterweight champ.
In the third round, Lawler caught Diaz with a check right hook. Diaz folded, and Lawler followed it up with an uppercut.
‘Diablo’ failed to respond to Jason Herzog’s call, and remained on the ground. Lawler had his revenge after 17 long years.
There were a lot of concerns surrounding Nick Diaz. Especially among Diaz’s fans.
The veteran of the game looked badly beaten up, and struggled to pick his words at the post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.
However, the UFC officials provided an update on Diaz’s health condition following the fight. They clarified that everything was ok. Brett Okamoto of ESPN revealed the same on his Twitter account.
His Tweet read:
“Health update on Nick Diaz, per UFC officials: He’s okay. No issues.”
Fans will surely be relieved to hear that a man who made millions turn heads, is doing good.
A while later, another update from Marc Raimondi followed that confirmed that Diaz wouldn’t be a part of the post-fight presser.
“Nick Diaz will not be at the #UFC266 postfight press conference, per UFC officials. He was not transported to the hospital. Diaz and his team left the building after his fight.”
