Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t believe he is one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA
Russian star Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t believe he makes the list as one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA.
The 31-year-old is the Lightweight champion and has an incredible 28-0 record in his MMA career.
Khabib is considered as one of the best ever, but the humble Russian didn’t think he could be called the greatest ever.
The Russian was speaking to CBS Sports and was asked if his goal was to retire unbeaten and as the greatest fighter of all time:
“Talk about I am the greatest of all time? I don’t know.
“We have Jon Jones, Fedor [Emelianenko]. We have Demetrious Johnson, we have Henry Cejudo, we have DC [Daniel Cormier], Anderson Silva and a lot of guys.
“One of the best, maybe, but I don’t want to be talking about ‘I am the greatest of all time.’
“Honestly, like one of the best.”
Khabib can make his legacy even greater by defeating Tony Ferguson in his next fight. That takes place in April at UFC 249, and both men seem set for a battle.
Many other top fighters in the UFC
While Khabib mentioned a few top stars in the UFC, there are several others that he missed out.
Georges St-Pierre is also one of the best ever while Khabib might not acknowledge it, his rival, Conor McGregor is also one of the best ever.
The Russian does have an incredible record at the moment and is in the form of his life.
He has been untouchable in recent months but Ferguson will provide him with a real tough challenge.
Khabib might not be the greatest fighter of all time in MMA history but could change if he does retire undefeated.
