Retired boxer Paul Malignaggi gave his prediction for the upcoming trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier
McGregor will be looking forward to putting his ‘demotivated’ tag to death, come the 10th of July, when he takes on Poirier in a trilogy bout. Their fight will headline UFC 264 which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, in front of a full house.
The pair’s rivalry began in September 2014 at UFC 178. McGregor won the first fight via. knockout in the first round.
Poirier came back a matured fighter in the rematch, earlier this year, at UFC 257. ‘The Diamond’ knocked out McGregor in the second round, handing the Irishman his first-ever knockout loss.
With the fight inching closer, former boxer Paul Malignaggi shared his prediction for the McGregor vs Poirier. He claimed that McGregor would be beaten up again, and it would be the same old excuse from fans- “McGregor wasn’t focused.”
Malignaggi told Helen Yee:
“I think he’s [McGregor] is probably going to get his a** kicked again, to be honest. But that’s okay because they [the fans] will tell you that he wasn’t focused again, they’ll tell you it’s because he just sold his whiskey for $600 million… Conor has really built a reputation…prize fighting…prize-winning reputation…the pinata himself…pinata through and through…you get a prize for beating him up.”
McGregor and Floyd Mayweather last fought in August 2017. It still has been the only professional boxing fight McGregor has ever been in.
Having lost the fight via. TKO in the 10th round, it now looks like McGregor wants a piece of Mayweather again.
The Irishman took to Instagram to post a recording of a Floyd Mayweather commercial for Love Windows. He followed it up with a sarcastic caption:
“It’s a big bargain over at Love Windows U.K, guys! Make sure check it out.”
