Paulo Costa is out of his next fight against Jared Cannonier
Costa was set to face Cannonier at UFC Fight Night on the 21st of August against Cannonier. The latest development is that he has withdrawn from his fight against ‘The Killa Gorilla.’
However, in a fresh Twitter rant Costa has come up with some unusual claims. And going by the looks of it, his pay might have been an issue for his withdrawal from the fight.
Costa wrote:
“UFC needs to pay me as main fighter to have fighting in main events. Youtubers are showing all disgrace on this business.
The Brazilian middleweight didn’t stop there, he dropped another bomb claiming that he never signed the contract to fight Cannonier, in the first place.
“Just to be clear. I never signed or locked up that contract. Why ufc announced this fight if didn’t signed? My question too.”
It has been a crazy few days for Costa on Twitter. Anyone following him on Twitter would know he has been in a wild frenzy of late.
From calling the Mars lander fake to thinking about hiring Joshua Fabia as coach, his tweets have been very controversial.
Kelvin Gastelum was the replacement fighter the last time Paulo Costa pulled out. Costa was scheduled to face Robert Whittaker on the 17th of April, but the Brazilian pulled out due to contracting flu.
Now, that he has pulled out of the Cannonier fight, Gastelum has stepped in once again.
Gastelum is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Whittaker, while his opponent Cannonier is coming off a loss against ‘The Reaper’ as well.
This will be Cannonier’s first fight in almost a year. His fight against Whittaker was at UFC 254 in October 2020.
The venue or the location for UFC Fight Night on August 21 hasn’t been announced yet.
