Belal Muhammad posted a positive update despite a gruesome eye injury thanks to a Leon Edwards poke

There was a lot of concern for Belal Muhammad and his eye injury after a poke from Leon Edwards in the latest UFC Fight Night main event.

The fight was only in the second round and Muhammad let out an almighty cry as soon as Edwards poked him in the eye.

This was an accidental poke but the second one in the fight. The referee had already warned Edwards in the first round but the British star made the same error again.

Muhammad was wincing in a lot of pain and needed the doctor to tend to him. Pictures right after the event brought up just how bad the injury was as there was some blood coming from the eye too.

Muhammad had trouble seeing from his right eye too and there were fears of vision loss or worse for him.

Belal Muhammad doesn’t have any serious damage

Many stars have had to undergo eye surgery after getting hit with an eye poke. Stipe Miocic is one of them.

Thankfully, Muhammad won’t have to worry about all that. The American posted a positive update on his eye and condition right after the fight.

Bully was upset that the fight couldn’t go the five rounds and apologised to the fans.

“My heart is shattered my first main event ended like that but Gods the best of planners im sorry to the fans and the @ufc you deserved a full fight.”

However, the most important aspect out of the update was his eye being better. Muhammad confirmed that vision was coming back and no permanent damage was done.

He also wanted a rematch against Edwards since this was a no contest:

“Alhamdillah the vision is coming back and no permanent damage to the eye I’ll be back and want to run it back @Leon_edwardsmma”

While this is great news for Muhammad, it seems that Edwards wants to move on to bigger events.

Edwards apologised to Muhammad for the eye poke but wants to fight for the Welterweight belt.
