Conor McGregor is preparing himself for Dustin Poirier and the Notorious One is confident of getting a win
The Notorious One, Conor McGregor, will be back in action against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
The Irishman had defeated Donald Cerrone in his last fight at UFC 246 but that was almost a year back. McGregor then retired from the UFC in the middle of 2020 and even set up a promotional fight against Poirier.
However, the UFC moved quick to make the fight official for the first PPV of 2021. Many predictions have come in from several fighters such as Justin Gaethje and Gilbert Burns ahead of the fight.
McGregor, for his part, is claiming to be in great shape and made a huge prediction ahead of the clash. He posted an edited image of two versions of himself and claimed he would destroy both of them at the same time:
“Cerrone McGregor Vs Alvarez McGregor.
“I’d destroy both these versions of myself. And Together. And I’m not messing.
“Absolutely demolish them both. 16 days!”
Back to his trash talking best
While McGregor hasn’t targeted Poirier, he does seem to be bringing up the trash talk, something that he is known for.
McGregor’s win over Eddie Alvarez was historical since it was for the Lightweight title. The win made McGregor the first UFC star to hold two belts at the same time.
The Cerrone fight was something different as it was a return for McGregor after his tough loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor already has a win over Poirier in their meeting from a few years back. However, this is a different fight and some are predicting that Poirier could get the better of the Irishman too.
This is a huge clash as the winner could enter the race for the Lightweight title. Khabib hasn’t been stripped the title since retiring and it will be interesting to see what is next for the Russian.
