Conor McGregor posted another update on social media and his leg seems to be fine after UFC 257
Conor McGregor bore the brunt of Dustin Poirier’s leg kicks at UFC 257 as the Irishman ended up losing in the main event.
The Notorious One was knocked down by Poirier, which came as a bit of a shock. However, the real talking point was how much damage McGregor sustained thanks to the leg kicks.
The Irishman was caught backstage after the fight as he lauded Poirier on the win. He claimed that Poirier had broken his leg while the Irishman was also seen hobbling and using crutches after the clash.
McGregor hasn’t said much about the foot after the fight, but he posted another update on social media recently.
This was taken in Dubai in front of the Burj Al Arab hotel with McGregor riding a horse. His right leg seems to be doing fine and there was no real swelling, which wasn’t the case last Saturday.
McGregor also claimed posted another update before this suggesting that he would bounce back from the fight, and his coach added that the leg was fine too.
John Kavanagh was speaking to Ariel Helwani and confirmed that the Irishman did not suffer serious injuries to his leg.
“It’s going to be a couple of days before he’s walking without any hindrance, but there’s no serious damage to the peroneal nerve that goes down there on that side of the leg, which was kicked a number of times.”
This was the first fight for McGregor since his win over Donald Cerrone. However, it didn’t go his way and there already are talks of what should be his next fight.
McGregor wants a trilogy with Poirier as the pair are 1-1. The Irishman also believes this should be for the UFC title that Khabib Nurmagomedov holds.
Khabib has retired from the promotion and claimed he would be back only if someone impressed him at UFC 257. That didn’t happen and it will be interesting to see what is next for the Russian.
McGregor is still one of the biggest names in the business and the UFC needs to see him in action more.
Another title shot seems a little weird given he just lost. However, McGregor is money and a trilogy with Poirier would sell a lot.
