Tony Ferguson is set to fight Justin Gaethje on 9 May but is ready to cut weight tomorrow
UFC star Tony Ferguson still has UFC 249 in his head and is planning to make weight tomorrow.
That event was scheduled for 18 April but was cancelled last week by Disney and ESPN due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ferguson continued his preparations even when Khabib Nurmagomedov pulled out of the event.
The Lightweight champion is stuck in Russia and Gaethje was his replacement to face Ferguson. However, Dana White recently confirmed plans to hold a UFC event on 9 May with Ferguson main eventing the show.
Ferguson, however, is still keen on making weight for this weekend’s cancelled event, and posted several updates recently.
One saw him speak about making the 155 pound limit for the Lightweight division. However, it seems unlikely he will be able to do that as he shared a picture of his current weight.
Ariel Helwani also posted an update on the photo too.
He claimed that Ferguson was determined to make weight, but that is going to take a crazy effort. The UFC star is eight pounds off the limit for the Lightweight division. And losing that much weight over one day seems impossible.
Also, it would take a toll on the health of the athlete if any crazy steps are taken. Ferguson is known to be an unorthodox person in and outside the Octagon. Hopefully, he doesn’t do anything weird before the 9 May fight.
Having extra days should be a boon for Ferguson, but the American never does normal things.
