That hasn’t taken away from the fact that it is still a huge fight for Cortez and Egger. This is Cortez’s first fight since 16 November, 2019 and she would be looking for her eighth straight win in MMA.

Cortez last defeated Vanessa Melo in Sao Paulo and she has posted several photos regarding her training in Abu Dhabi.

The American also posted an update on how well her weight-cut was going and she seemed confident of making the required cut:

A tricky opponent

Cortez was expected to face Bea Malecki on 11 October. However, for some reason, Malecki was replaced by Egger.

Cortez has risen quickly in the MMA world and put out a great performance in Dana White’s Contender Series against Mariya Agapova.

That earned her a UFC contract and it will be interesting to see how she does against Egger. The 26-year-old American has battled hard to continue the dream that her brother followed.

One of her brothers, Jose, was an MMA star but passed from cancer in 2011. Cortez started training in MMA after seeing Jose and was struggling to get her life back on track after he passed away.

However, the 26-year-old has persevered and battled to be here, and she isn’t going away without a fight.
