This was expected to be a tough outing for Calvin Kattar against Max Holloway, and it turned out to be just that.

The first event of 2021 from the UFC saw some great knockouts too. However, the main talking point from the fights was Holloway’s performance.

Holloway on another level

The former Featherweight champion deserved to get the win and sets up to take on the winner of Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.

Volkanovski has beaten Holloway twice, the second one was a controversial and close win, and wasn’t all that impressed with the records that his rival broke.

Holloway was incredible as he smashed a Georges St-Pierre record too, and even Kattar applauded his performance after the loss.

This was a dent on Kattar’s hopes of getting close to the Featherweight title. He was ranked #6 in the division before the fight and this loss showed the gulf between the top contender and the American.

It will be interesting to see what else is up with Kattar after the fight. He needs some time off to recuperate from the injuries and even Holloway took a few hits in the clash.
