Chris Weidman suffered a horrendous broken leg at UFC 261 and showed some X-rays after surgery

UFC 261 saw some incredible title fights but the thoughts of almost everyone was with former Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman.

The All American took on Uriah Hall and suffered a horrible leg break. This wasn’t a normal leg break too as Weidman went to kick Hall but it was the All American’s leg that snapped.

This was eerily similar to Anderson Silva’s leg break against Weidman from a few years back. What was worse is that Weidman landed on the broken leg and he was in horrific pain after that.

The UFC moved quickly to bring doctors and took Weidman to hospital. The former champion was wheeled into surgery the next day and Weidman recently shared some photos before and after the surgery.

The first image shows the damage caused by the kick and the bone has snapped right off into two. Fortunately, the surgery seems to have gone well for Weidman. There are some screws in his leg and hopefully, his rehab isn’t going to be too long.

The former champion also brought up some difficulties as he is on painkillers and mostly confined to his bed.

Conor McGregor also brought up this horrible accident and suggested that leg kicks are a bit of a gamble.

The Irishman has been on the end of some of Dustin Poirier’s kicks and well, checking them can lead to some damage for the kicker.

Weidman does seem to be in a positive mood and even got some support from Silva. The Brazilian MMA legend’s leg break was just as bad and he made a full recovery.
