Heili Alateng might have injured his ribs in his fight against Casey Kenney

UFC on ESPN: Holm vs Aldana had some great fights on the prelim card, and one of them was Casey Kenney taking on Heili Alateng.

Both fighters were coming off wins in their last fights and this was one brilliant bout. It was Kenney who ended up getting the win but Alateng also had some decent hits at his rival.

However, the 28-year-old Chinese star, Alateng, saw his ribs being lit up like a traffic light. Kenney got a few kicks to the right side of his rival, and the damage was there for all to see.

Alateng’s ribs seemed to be in really bad shape, however, the 28-year-old continued battling through and finished the fight.

This isn’t the first time we have seen such damage done to ribs in recent weeks. Jab Blachowicz did a number on Dominick Reyes too, and that was brutal too.

Alateng loses a win streak

The 28-year-old Chinese star had looked impressive in the past couple of years or so. Alateng was on a four-fight win streak before facing off against Kenney.

However, the Chinese star is now 14-8 in his MMA career. Kenney, who got the unanimous win at the event, now is 15-2-1 in his MMA career.

The American has only lost to Merab Dvalishvili in his UFC career, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.

Kenney is on a two-fight win streak now and could make a charge up the rankings in hopes of getting a Bantamweight shot.

He still needs a few more wins under his belt but performances like this won’t hurt his chances. The Bantamweight division in the UFC is one of the most stacked, and many stars are eyeing Petr Yan’s belt.
