Colby Covington suggested he had slept with Polyana Viana instead of preparing for a fight
Brazilian MMA star Polyana Viana seems to have responded to claims that she slept with Colby Covington.
Covington is one of the most controversial fighters in the MMA world and was speaking to Submission Radio when he was asked about a post with Viana.
The former Interim Welterweight champion posted a suggestive photo of Viana and him after a training session.
Covington was asked about this during the interview with Submission Radio and was asked why he didn’t take the Leon Edwards fight on short notice.
The American made some horrible comments on what he was up to (h/t RT):
“I was b*lls deep in Polyana Viana, so get me off the couch in three weeks notice to fight some Leon Scott [Edwards] guy. You know, it was going to be a price tag.
“I wanted a little bit more than was in my contract, I just wasn’t gonna show up for a normal paycheck to fight that guy. The way I fight guys, I redline it every time I fight.”
Covington added that he also needed a full training camp and he wasn’t going to take up the fight against Edwards, who he called an “irrelevant guy”.
Viana had earlier claimed that the pair were just friends, but she seems to have hit out at Covington now (Please note the tweet is translated via Google).
“I have never given room for any kind of comment or judgment about my personal life, but it is not for me to judge the person’s attitude. I feel sorry for those who act so low to try to promote themselves.
“It is revolting.”
Viana is a rising star in the UFC and has a record of 12 wins and four losses. The Brazilian is on a two-fight win streak and was last in action at UFC 258.
Covington is known to make such crude remarks and it will be interesting to see what is next from him.
He is keen on a title shot but won’t get it now since Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal are to meet for a rematch at UFC 261.
Viana, for her part, also made the news a while back when she beat up a robber using a fake gun outside her apartment.
