American Top Team head honcho reacted to Colby Covington’s feisty performance against Jorge Masvidal

The narrative building up to Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal wasn’t just friends turned rivals- but for Colby in particular, he was going against everyone from his former team at ATT. Following heated run-ins between the pair, and venom spreading to the gym, Dan Lambert suspended both fighters from the gym, but only Masvidal was welcomed back.

The sweet taste of vengeance must have felt good for Colby in this lopsided victory. He did not hold back and dished out insults to everyone from ATT, during the post-fight interview.

Speaking about the fight to The Schmo, Dan Lambert said, “It went probably the way lot of people thought it would go. Colby’s gas and wrestling is good and he put it on Jorge. H was able to neutralize Jorge. Jorge had some moments, and dropped him in the fourth, but Colby’s got a good chin and great gas tank. So props to him.”

Giving updates on where Jorge’s head is at after the fight, “I speak to Jorge all the time. He is in good spirits. Wishes he had better gas and wrestling in the tank. One loss isn’t gonna off track him so much. I’d like to see him fight Nate [Diaz] or Conor, see him in big fights now.”

He also spoke about upcoming plans for Dustin Poirier, saying that much like Jorge, Dustin has earned his way into the sport and only big fights excite him now.

“Almost took eyes out” – Jorge Masvidal posts picture of eye injury he suffered at UFC 272

It has almost been a week since UFC 272, but the repercussions of the fight are still being discussed strongly by the MMA community. The fight in itself has its moments of controversy when Colby Covington seemed to have eye poked Jorge Masvidal in the initial rounds, and even landed an accidental low blow.

Herb Dean even stopped the fight briefly after the low blow and gave out a strong warning to ‘Chaos’. Masvidal expressed his disappointment with the referee’s officiating during the post-fight press conference but eventually admitted that his rival was the better man that evening.

“I’ve had a couple of mishaps with Herb Dean I just don’t get why he didn’t fix the action. He threw a punch, missed, and then immediately jabbed me in the eyeball. I’m not going to take anything from [Covington] winning the fight because that was just one sequence.” said Masvidal.

The Miami native recently posted a picture on Twitter, providing an update on the injury captioning,
