Former UFC women’s flyweight Rachael Ostovich has backed Valentina Shevchenko to beat Jessica Andrade, as she revealed her future plans.
We are hardly four days away from Shevchenko’s title defense against Andrade at UFC 261. This will be Bullet Valentina’s fifth title defense of her flyweight title.
Shevchenko is coming off a victory against Jennifer Maia at UFC 255 and is currently on a 6 match win streak, whereas Andrade is coming off a victory against Katlyn Chookagian, which ended her two-fight skid.
Elsewhere, Rachael Ostovich who was recently released by the UFC after suffering three straight losses has backed Shevchenko to come up trumps against the powerful Andrade.
Speaking in an interview with Helen Yee, Ostovich was asked if she thought Shevchenko would defend her flyweight belt. The Hawaiian replied, “I think so…I think so.”
Ostovich then went on to discuss what the future holds in store for her, while also thanking the fans for sticking with her and believing her. She also said that there were a lot of things coming up in 2021.
She was quoted as saying:
“I just wanna thank everybody for still wanting to see me succeed in life…Thank You..Will be fighting soon. There is lots of things coming up. So, super excited for 2021, it’s been great so far. Thank God!”
Ostovich made an impressive UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter : A New World Champion Finale. She took on Karine Gevorgyan and won via. submission (armbar) in the very first round.
However, what followed next was totally unexpected. That was unfortunately Ostovich’s only win in the UFC, and she lost her next three fights, with the UFC ultimately releasing her.
She has now hinted at a possibility of joining the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, just like Paige VanZant, who was met with the same fate in the UFC, did.
