Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal could take place in the future and Geoff Neal and Stephen Thompson shared their predictions

Geoff Neal vs Stephen Thompson is the main event for the final UFC card of the year. This is expected to be a great fight and the winner of that could be in the chase for the Welterweight title.

Neal has won his last seven fights and his last loss was against Kevin Holland back in 2017. Thompson was on a two-fight losing streak but snapped that with a win over Vicente Luque in his last outing.

They both are chasing the champion, Kamaru Usman, but he is to face Gilbert Burns next. The UFC still needs to get the contenders ready for the next fight and there is a talk of Colby Covington facing Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal lost his last fight to Usman for the title while Covington has also lost to Usman in the past. Thompson was asked to share his thoughts on this and he was open to fighting Masvidal in the future, as he had defeated Gamebred.

He also backed Masvidal to get the better of Covington:

“I got my man, Masvidal, all day. He is an intelligent fighter, you can tell that from his last fight against [Kamaru] Usman.

“Short notice, he has got great takedown defence and cardio for days in a full camp, so I am going for Masvidal.”

Neal goes the other way

Thompson’s rival for the night, Neal, however, went the other way. He was speaking to the Schmo and claimed that Covington could get the win if he used the same tactics that Usman used on Masvidal.

“I honestly see Colby winning that fight if he does the same thing Usman did to him. He will probably win the fight.”

Masvidal vs Covington could be for the next challenger to the winner of Usman vs Burns. The winner of Thompson vs Neal would also be in the discussion for a title fight in the future, and it will be interesting to see how this battle goes.
