Mike Perry had a lot of attention on him after his tax rant at the UFC Fight Night event
There was a lot of attention on Mike Perry before his latest fight, and it only intensified after he launched an attack while speaking on taxes.
Perry faced off against Mickey Gall in the co-main event of the evening. The 28-year-old Perry already made the waves by bringing his girlfriend Latory Gonzalez to the fight.
Not only was she there to support him, but she was also the cornerwoman in the clash. Perry didn’t come with a coach or any backing, and it seemed to work. He got the better of Gall and Perry launched an attack on his haters during the post-fight interview.
He explained the decision not to come in with any coach and added that he is looking for a new place to train.
Perry also went on to say that he was upset over how the IRS have been dealing with him. The 28-year-old claimed he had paid over $100,000 last year, and wanted lower taxes. His rant was certainly enjoyable but Platinum made a lot of decent points.
The 28-year-old seemed incredibly passionate and many of the UFC stars enjoyed what he said. Some even backed his calls for the taxman to look into their workings while others were just pleased at how Perry was being himself.
Get him a microphone
Former UFC star and current WWE wrestler Shayna Baszler was one of those who enjoyed Perry’s tax rant and more.
She tweeted after the fight that Platinum deserves another role and that isn’t in the Octagon:
“Please put @PlatinumPerry on color commentary for the next UFC card. #UFCVegas4”
Putting Perry on commentary would certainly be entertaining. Joe Rogan does a fine job of it but other UFC stars, past and present, also have taken up the role well.
Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping are two examples, and it will be interesting to see if Perry gets a shot at that.
For now, he can enjoy this win, and as told during the interview, he is 1-0 with Latory Gonzalez as his cornerwoman.
