UFC star Irwin Rivera was arrested on charges of murder as his sisters were stabbed
ESPN have shared more details surrounding Irwin Rivera, the UFC star arrested on charges of murder as his sisters were stabbed.
The incident took place on Thursday and the UFC world was in shock as more details were being shared.
Lezlye and Kelly, Rivera’s sisters, are stable but still are in hospital. ESPN adds that the details were shared by Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of the UFC star.
On Friday, Lezlye posted on Facebook wasn’t mentally in the right place and also wasn’t training or caring about MMA like he normally did.
The post confirmed that the sister of the UFC star flew into Florida to check up on Rivera because of this “behaviour”.
“Unfortunately his mental stage was worse then we could (have) imagined and before we could help him he completely broke.
“His mentality has been completely corrupted into something unrecognizable.”
Boynton Beach Police from Florida shared details of the attack that took place on Thursday.
Rivera confessed that he tried to kill his two sisters by using a knife on Thursday. The UFC also claimed that this was his purpose and a “higher power” told him to do this (h/t ESPN).
The UFC star has been charged with two counts of murder and is being held without bond. Rivera also is kept in a behavioural health facility as the court granted a motion.
Abdelaziz, who is one of the biggest MMA managers in the world, shared more details of his fighter.
The Egyptian claimed that Rivera was a respected member of Dominance MMA and he, along with the UFC star’s sisters, wanted him to get the right help.
Abdelaziz also posted about how strong Rivera’s sisters have been during these tough times.
The UFC is also investigating the situation. Rivera’s mother also claimed that her son lost his memory and was taken over by “something evil”.
Hopefully, Rivera does get the help he needs and it is a little bit of good news that his sisters are fine. The Mexican has an MMA record of 10 wins and six losses. He has a 1-2 UFC record with a loss in his last fight against Andre Ewell.
