Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz has no easy prediction ahead of the light heavyweight title bout
Israel Adesanya is scheduled to take a step up the weight divisions and fight against Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz for the UFC light heavyweight title in 2021.
The Prince of Cieszyn won the vacant title against Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 by way of TKO. And now, he will defend it for the first time against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
The Last Stylebender is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet at the moment. He last defended his middleweight belt against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 as well.
The 31-year-old Nigerian boasts of a 20-0-0 professional record and will be one of the most unpredictable opponents Jan Blachowicz has ever faced. With light heavyweight being Blachowicz’s domain, fans have had a tough time predicting the result of the fight.
Chael Sonnen tries to make a prediction for Adesanya vs Blachowicz title fight
Sonnen, on his talk show ‘Beyond the Fight‘ on YouTube, talked about the much-awaited bout and tried to make a prediction for the fight.
Talking about dynamism and skill, Sonnen said Israel Adesanya is better. However, he did point out that being better at all that doesn’t mean the Nigerian wins.
“Either guy can win. I’ll tell you right now who’s better; Adesanya is better.
He then stated that it is the Pole that has the most ‘power’ out of the two, and stated that it equalized the prediction.
“Power is the great equalizer. I’ll tell you who’s got the most power, it’s Jan Blachowicz, I’ll tell you who’s most likely to knock the other one out, is Blachowicz, I’ll tell you who’s likely to do with one punch, it’s Blachowicz.”
He then brings up the fact that Adesanya said that he won’t be gaining any extra weight. Blachowicz, meanwhile, is going to cut to 205 while Adesanya might weigh-in at about 193.
He was defiant to name an outright winner in the fight but did say that the fight “could not get here quick enough”. Sonnen shares the same enthusiasm and curiosity as all the other MMA fans when it comes to the development of the light heavyweight division.
