Joseph Benavidez missed out on gold, once again, in his career as many UFC stars shared their reactions to the clash

The UFC has a new Flyweight Champion as Deiveson Figueiredo demolished Joseph Benavidez at the recent Fight Night event.

The pair had met months ago with Figueiredo winning that clash for the vacant title. However, the Brazilian wasn’t given the gold since he missed weight. This was Benavidez’s chance to pick up a UFC title for the first time, but Figueiredo came out firing on all cylinders.

The Brazilian knocked Benavidez down several times and even put on a submission hold four times. Benavidez was able to survive most of the attacks but fainted with 12 seconds left to go in the first round.

This game Figueiredo the title as he got emotional after the win, but Benavidez certainly looked broken after the clash.

The 35-year-old did say he would come back stronger and this wasn’t the end of his time in the Octagon.

So near, yet so far

While Benavidez is one of the most experienced stars in MMA history, he just hasn’t been able to get the title in the UFC.

He has lost to Demetrious Johnson a couple of times for the title, and now, has missed out again. The 35-year-old holds several UFC records for the Flyweight division, but this loss must be a bitter pill to swallow.

Many UFC stars came out to share their thoughts on the loss. While most of them were in awe of the Brazilian, they were also a little saddened as he missed out on the title.
