Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier meet in 2021 and Stephen Thompson shared his prediction
Stephen Thompson wants to finish 2020 with a bang as he headlines the final UFC event of the year.
Wonderboy is one of the most likeable figures in the UFC and faces a tough clash against Geoff Neal.
Thompson was speaking to Helen Yee after the weigh-ins and didn’t actually have any idea of how he would be winning since he didn’t visualise his fights.
While Neal vs Thompson is a big fight and he told the Schmo that he would like to win the title in 2021, there are a couple of other big fights too.
Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier meet for the second time in their career and Thompson had his prediction for the same.
The Irishman had won the first contest and only returned to the UFC earlier this year against Donald Cerrone.
This was McGregor’s first fight since the loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov and he beat Cowboy in under a minute.
While Poirier has also looked good in recent fights, Wonderboy went with McGregor:
“You know, it has been a while since we have seen Conor McGregor fight. His last fight was with Donald Cerrone and we saw how that went.
“I know Dustin has made some improvements since the last time they fought. But, to be honest with you, Conor McGregor is a life-long martial artist.
“Even if he is not in the fight, not in the Octagon, he is always training so, he could possibly put out another win for sure.”
McGregor is still one of the biggest names in the world of MMA and it will be interesting to see how this fight goes.
The winner of this could get a shot at the UFC Lightweight title, especially with doubts over Khabib’s future.
The Russian defeated Justin Gaethje and then retired. However, Dana White hasn’t stripped Khabib of the title and is to discuss his future later next month.
