Stipe Miocic weighs in on Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou

Stipe Miocic gave his verdict on one of the most anticipated fights in heavyweight history – Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou

Following the conclusion of Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3, UFC President Dana White would very well know that Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou will be the only fight that can challenge the fierceness and intensity of the McGregor-Poirier rivalry.

However, a payment dispute between White and Jones has been delaying even the talks of the fight from taking place.

Despite all such shortcomings, the MMA community believes that the fight would take place in the near future.

Former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic weighed in on the possible Jones vs Ngannou fight. In an interview with Fight Hype, Miocic was asked how a fight between the light-heavyweight GOAT and the heavyweight champ would pan out.

All though Miocic wasn’t able to pick a winner, he pointed out Jones becoming bigger and stronger in recent times.

Miocic said:

“I think the fight between Jones and Francis would be a great fight. You know, like Jones is one of the best of all time, he’s gotten bigger, he’s got stronger. And you know Francis, he is a monster too. So it’s heavyweights anything can happen.”

Jon Jones refused to fight Stipe Miocic

Earlier this year, Dana White said in an interview that Jon Jones might fight Stipe Miocic on his heavyweight debut.

However, Jones refused to accept White’s offer and vehemently refused to fight the former heavyweight champion.

In a series of deleted tweets, Jones wrote:

“I’m not here to fight Stipe but I will defend my belt against him no problem. I’m looking for the biggest draw and I’m willing to wait. 33 years old in a better athlete right now than I’ve ever been before…I’m just going to keep training my ass off.”

When asked by a fan about why he wouldn’t fight Miocic, Jones replied:

“I’m sick of hearing the same shit, you’re not a big enough star, you don’t bring enough pay-per-view. I’m ready to fight fights that will bring in the pay-per-view. The world wants to see some black on black crime right now and I’m ready to give them lol.”
