Poirier got the win and there was more trash talking between the two but Dana White confirmed that McGregor was going to have surgery in the morning.

The Irishman does face some time out with a broken ankle. The last time he fought Poirier he did injure his leg but he was up and running in a few days.

This is a bigger injury and the Irishman had to leave on a stretcher. That still didn’t dampen his spirits and it will be interesting to see if he is up and running come the end of the year.

The injury itself was pretty gruesome to watch and Poirier claimed that one of his leg kicks caused the ankle to crack.

The fight was certainly going well and the crowd was up for it. However, no one would have wanted the clash to end like this.

Hopefully, McGregor returns to his best soon as he is one of the biggest draws in the UFC.
