Michael Chiesa was also on the fight card at UFC 239
UFC 239 might have seen Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes keep their respective titles, but the talking point was Jorge Masvidal vs Ben Askren.
Masvidal and Askren had been involved in a bitter war of words leading up to the fight. Gamebred had promised to beat Askren and boy, did he do it.
The BMF champion put on a clinic as he defeated Askren in five seconds. Masvidal recorded the fastest knockout in UFC history with a running knee. That connected flush with Askren’s head and he was out right after the blow.
Michael Chiesa had won his bout against Diego Sanchez and was speaking backstage when he saw what happened in the Octagon.
Street Jesus 🙏🏻 you’re my boy @GamebredFighter https://t.co/1SMwupwVD4

The Welterweight was shocked with the outcome and was lost for words before recovering well:
“Oh my God. Oh my God.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is Michael Chiesa, Jorge Masvidal just knocked out Ben Askren in the first round.”
The Welterweight also wanted Masvidal to get a title shot, and even called him by his other name, Street Jesus.
“Sweet Mother of Mary. That’s a $50,000 bonus.
“Give the ******* guy a title shot. Just when you thought you couldn’t love the guy anymore
“Holy s***. Street Jesus. Street ******* Jesus.”
THE BMF MOMENT! 🤬

Masvidal waiting for Usman
Gamebred has since won the BMF title in the inaugural fight against Nate Diaz. Masvidal now seems set for a Welterweight clash against champion Kamaru Usman.
The pair have been at each other’s throats for a while and it will be interesting to see how things go in the coming months.
The UFC has stopped all events for now but believes UFC 249 will go ahead. Should that fight take place on 18 April, we could see Masvidal vs Usman soon.
