Terrance McKinney was scheduled to face Fares Ziam in a lightweight match in the prelim card of UFC Fight Night 198
Just what Terrance McKinney wouldn’t have wanted. Just hours before his fight against Fares Ziam in the prelim card of UFC Fight Night 198, the bout had to be pulled off.
The reason? A member from McKinney’s team tested positive for COVID, although the fighter himself did not contract the disease.
Taking to Twitter, a dejected McKinney wrote, while assuring that work was going on for the fight to be rescheduled:
“Someone in my corner got Covid and they were forced to cancel my fight. I don’t have Covid, but they say due to risk exposure I can’t fight. Sorry y’all, I appreciate all the support and love. We’re workin hard to get the fight rescheduled ASAP.”
This was set to be McKinney’s second UFC fight. The 27-year old was coming off a 7-second KO win over Matt Frevola at UFC 263.
As for Ziam, he last beat Luigi Vendramini via. majority decision, the same night McKinney made his debut. He is currently on a two-fight winning streak.
Just an hour before the fight was cancelled, Terrance McKinney was totally ready to go and get the job done.
McKinney wrote:
“We will get this W today. All glory to God.”
The date of the rescheduling hasn’t been announced yet. Will have to wait and watch how the promotion deals with this.
