The Korean Zombie had his shoulder pop during his fight against Dan Ige
The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung put on a clinic against the tough-as-nails Dan Ige to emerge victorious via. unanimous decision.
Coming off a loss against Brian Ortega in October 2020, The Korean Zombie showed precise striking and great ground game as he scored 48-47, 49-46, 49-46 on the three judges’ scorecard.
The number 4 ranked featherweight contender cemented his position as the top-ranked contender with that win.
Following his win, Chan Sung Jung revealed that (via. his translator) his shoulder had popped in out during a takedown in the second round.
His translator stated that the South Korean wouldn’t open up on such things, and went on to reveal that it was the same shoulder that was injured during his fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 163 in 2013.
The Korean Zombie’s translator was quoted as saying, during the backstage interview with Laura Sanko:
“At the same time, he did pop his shoulder in and out. The same shoulder that he messed up on the Aldo fight. He won’t ever say that kind of stuff.”
What’s next for the Korean Zombie
The Korean Zombie has cemented his position as the top-ranked featherweight contender. Only Yair Rodriguez, Brian Ortega, Max Holloway and the champ Alexander Volkanovski sit above him.
With Calvin Kattar sitting just a rank below him at number 5, a fight against him seems inevitable.
Chan Sung Jung will need at least one more win before he can get to challenge the likes of Max Holloway or rematch Brian Ortega.
